Inspection
- Assist inspection department with developing and submitting Turnaround scope items.
- Issue repair and replacement engineering scope packages for inspection driven repairs in Turnaround scope.
- Assist inspection department in developing and executing inspection plans for Turnaround required inspections.
- Issue engineering packets on Turnaround related work.
- Review and redline TA piping packages to ensure best practices and engineering standards are followed.
- Provide day-to-day engineering support for the Turnaround department.
- Ensure torque procedures and plans are implemented and followed during Turnaround and Shutdown execution.
- Coordinate designer workload between Turnaround designers and planners. Prioritize piping and fixed equipment work that requires drafting and design support.
- Coordinate with Fixed Equipment Maintenance and Reliability engineers on handoff for Turnaround related items.
- Participate in Turnaround Risk Based Scope Review meetings and scope development meetings for Turnaround and Shutdown work.
- Coordinate with Rotating Equipment Engineer to support on Turnaround related items as needed.
- Perform Fixed Equipment Maintenance and Reliability Engineer core job duties on an as-needed basis.
- Assist capital projects group as needed with Fixed Equipment design and specifications review on Turnaround or Shutdown related Capital Projects (material selection, heat treatment, welding processes, inspection & testing requirements, etc.).
- Support PSM group in initiating and progressing Turnaround and Shutdown MOC’s.
- Initiate MOC’s for changes driven by the Reliability Engineering group. Assist other departments with MOC issues as required for Turnaround and Shutdown related items.
-
- Develop engineering packages with enough details for the turnaround group to plan, obtain quotation and execute scope.
- Engineering packages for example include a summary of required scope, applicable drawings, BOM, required specs and standard, critical inspection steps
- Typical packages include equipment replacement such as vessel and exchanger bundles and known equipment repairs flagged by inspection.
- Work with turnaround planners to develop fixed equipment related packages:
- Address planner questions related to fixed equipment
- Work as a liaison between Site Fixed Reliability Engineer and the turnaround group when interpretation of specification and standards is needed
- Help with application/implementation of the site specifications and standards
- Function as a preliminary reviewer of all fixed equipment related IFR planner packages ensuring correct information such as pipe spec, BOM, design/operating conditions, insulation, paint, etc. is included
- Under the direction of the Site Fixed Reliability Engineer help to develop fixed engineering related requirements for shutting down, cleaning, opening, disassembly, reassembly and startup
- Example: defines flange torqueing requirements
- Have the ability to coordinate between multiple disciplines (Inspection, Operations, Process, I&E) to determine appropriate scope details
- Function as turnarounds first point of contact for addressing fixed equipment engineer related questions
- Attends all turnaround planning/scoping meetings and provide updates as required to progression of scope items
- Maintains, updates and stores engineering details/critical information developed during planning process:
- P6 engineering notes
- Develop engineering packages with enough details for the turnaround group to plan, obtain quotation and execute scope.
