- Capture accurate field measurements and produce clear, standardized sketches that reflect real‑world conditions, enabling designers and planners to create safe, constructible, and reliable work packages.
- Field Sketching & Measurement
- Capture accurate field dimensions, elevations, and tie‑in details.
- Produce clear hand sketches that reflect actual site conditions.
- Identify interferences, access constraints, and constructability considerations during field walks.
- Validate existing drawings against field conditions and flag discrepancies.
- Drafting & Documentation
- Convert field sketches into clean, standardized digital sketches or preliminary layouts.
- Apply company drafting standards, line conventions, and annotation practices.
- Maintain revision control and ensure all sketches are traceable and properly labeled.
- Support creation of redlines, as‑built updates, and sketch packages for planners.
- Collaboration & Workflow Support
- Work closely with piping designers to ensure sketches align with design intent.
- Coordinate with planners to ensure sketches support work package clarity and sequencing.
- Communicate field findings, risks, and missing information promptly.
- Participate in constructability reviews when sketches impact routing or access.
- Quality & Accuracy
- Ensure all sketches are legible, complete, and ready for downstream use.
- Verify dimensions and details before releasing sketches.
- Apply consistent annotation, scale, and symbology for easy interpretation.
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy to reduce rework and field delays.
- Strong hand‑sketching and field measurement ability.
- Basic understanding of piping systems, components, and routing logic.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar drafting tools (for digital conversion).
- Ability to read P&IDs, isometrics, and general arrangement drawings.
- Detail‑oriented and methodical.
- Strong communicator — able to clarify ambiguous field conditions.
- Comfortable working in operating units and field environments.
- Proactive in identifying missing information or potential issues.
- Sketches are accurate, complete, and require minimal rework.
- Downstream users (designers, planners, fabricators) can execute work confidently.
- Field conditions are captured clearly and consistently.
- Sketch packages support safe, efficient execution during TA or capital work.
