The Turnaround Engineer will support Turnaround Manager as a technical expert interfacing with the site engineers, planners, designers, equipment/service vendors.
SHE
- Advises on safety expectations for the Turnaround and lead the team to achieve safety goals. Serve as job representative and address all safety issues that arise with contractors brought on site for the execution of capital projects to deliver best-in-class HSE performance.
- Ensures proper engagement with site SHE representatives and approvals of contractor safety plans.
- Maintain safety as the highest priority of the plant

- Adhere to and uphold all safety policies and standards
- Works in collaboration with the respective TAR manager in the various project phases
- Manages the collection of the complete scope of work for the plant shutdown, based on maintenance plans, legal requirements and planned maintenance measures, etc.
- Execution of the work scope mapping in the central planning software, tracking of scope changes
- Works in collaboration with the respective requesters and detailed planner
- Interfaces as the central point of contact for the TAR detailed planning group
- Representation of the TAR manager in cases of absence
- Leads the importation of various scopes into the planning software with the aim of mapping a complete and comprehensive status of the scope of work as a basis for detailed planning
- Drives the evaluation of damage reports, inspection reports and general inspection data from the respective asset to record and clarify work orders
- Preparation and implementation of work scope challenges
- Execution of continuous maintenance of data in the relevant systems
- Practiced handling of SAP-PM: Tech. workstations, equipment, maintenance plans and orders, shift book, etc.
- Obtaining the necessary technical specifications (e.g. valve classes, etc.) from the respective asset managers
- Determination of material requirement lists (e.g. screws, dummy covers, washers, fittings)
- Compilation of all basic technical documents (RuI, installation plans, apparatus drawings, etc.)
- Provision of a suitable reporting system on the current status of scope collection
- In the implementation phase, take over progress and/or cost controlling if necessary
- Close coordination with the asset's operating technology
- Active clarification of Maintenance and further development of standards for scope recording in coordination with the planning group
- First point of contact for the detailed planners in the event of questions or discrepancies
- Regular exchange and intensive communication with the respective TAR manager and the head of the detailed planning group
- Participation in parallel projects (in the case of major shutdowns, may be responsible for one project only, or may also be involved in several smaller projects)
- Partners with off-site vendors for repairs and new equipment fabrication.
Level of education & Experience in general
- BS Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Degree
- 5 years of chemical plant experience
- Participation or experience in the planning and implementation of shutdowns or comparable projects
Technical skills
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards: e.g. ASME, API, ASTM, ANSI, NEC, etc.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Experience with SAP
- Experience with scheduling software like Microsoft Project
