Turnaround Scope Coordinator

  • Location: Pasadena Tx  (No per diem offered/ Local Candidates ONLY)
  • Duration: 8 months +
  • Department: TAR Group- TAR is March 2026
  • Hours: 5x10's plus OT
  • Pay Rate: DOE/ Negotiable with 1.5 for OT after 40 hours are worked

Job Description:
  • The Turnaround Scoping Coordinator is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Turnaround Scope. This role involves proactively gathering and compiling information from various departments, including Inspection, Operations, Maintenance, Reliability Engineering, Project Engineering, Technical Support, Instrument and Electrical, and Rotating Equipment. The goal is to produce a comprehensive Turnaround worklist and plan, while ensuring the security and accuracy of the worklist and managing the Scope Change Request (SCR) process post-scope freeze.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the scope development process by integrating information from Process Safety Management (PSM), Environmental, Refinery Inspection, Operations, Maintenance, Reliability Engineering, Project Engineering, Technical Support, Instrument, Electrical, and Rotating Equipment teams.
  • Initiate and maintain worklists, assign individual line item numbers, and provide routine updates on project status.
  • Act as a liaison between the turnaround and operations groups to ensure that the Turnaround worklists are comprehensive and that the scope includes work that can only be executed during turnarounds.
  • Lead scope review meetings to ensure that all stakeholders understand the scope and their respective responsibilities, facilitating the development of definition as necessary for all worklist line items.
  • Maintain SAP Turnaround Notifications for proper coding per the scoping procedure
  • Own and maintain the Scope Change Request (SCR) Process, ensuring that all work added post-scope freeze is identified, estimated, and integrated into the Turnaround scope.
Required Skills:
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in refinery or chemical plant operations, project coordination, or maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience producing and/or interpreting engineering drawings such as plot plans, piping isometrics, instrument loop drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills with a proactive mindset to deliver Turnaround scope and planning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, effectively interacting with individuals from various disciplines to achieve overall Turnaround success.
  • Knowledge and experience with safe work practices in an petro chemical environment.
  • Familiarity with SAP is a must.
  • Able to work in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook & Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to adopt and be proficient in STO program.
